TIME is a currency you can only spend ONCE. -Anonymous

Time management has been one of my struggles as a mother and as a full-time employee. I failed to prioritize things that cause tasks undone. One problem that I encounter the most is procrastinating, I felt lazy all the time especially when I got home from work. I realized that time management skills are precious, both in the workplace and in our everyday lives. It is essential to our success. Being a continuous learner, I was able to get some tips that I am applying now to get my time manage very well.

10 Tips to Manage Time Effectively

These are some tips that I find helpful, but everyone is different. Let this list be a mind changing to redefine your own practices.

1. Start your day with a clear focus. Start the day with a prayer and personal devotion with the Lord. Ask for wisdom, physical and spiritual strength for all that you are going to encounter throughout the day. You need to know that you have things to be done this day.

2. Prioritize. Prioritizing things will help you to get things done. Which tasks to be done first and which can wait? Identify these things and stick to it. It allows you to spend more time on the right things. It is a good way to ensure that deadlines are met and stress are minimized.

3. Minimize interruptions. As an all around mom, there has been a lot of interruptions that come along my way. I’ d come to think a lot of things that let’s me stay unfocused. Stay flexible if things doesn’t come the way we need it. Remove all the extra.

4. Stop procrastinating. If you can do it today, then do it. Why you need to do things tomorrow when you can do it today. Procrastinating will just just leave us a lot of works to do.

5. Learn to say “No”. You should take only those commitments that you know you have time for and that you truly care about.

6. Have a healthy lifestyle. Numerous studies have linked healthy lifestyle with work productivity. Getting enough sleep, exercising and eating healthy foods boost energy levels, clear your mind and allow you to focus more.

7. Limit amount of time spent in TV and Internet. Spending lots of screen time is one of the most that drains our productivity. We just don’t notice how they sucking up our time especially when we are enjoying youtube videos, scrolling our newsfeed in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I suggest to be more aware of the time we spend on these activities.

8. Eliminate the non-essential. Our lives are full of excess. When we can identify that excess and remove it, we become more and more in touch with what is significant and what deserves our time.

9. Do less. This is a tactic recommended by a blogger, Leo Babauta. Basically, do less is another way of saying do the things that really matter. Slow down, notice what needs to be done, and concentrate on those things. Do less things that create more value, rather than more things that are mostly empty.

10. Review your day. Check if the things you prioritize has been done. It is so fulfilling when tasks to be done are successfully done. We just need to do work one at a time. And do these things all over again. Managing our time effectively will enable us to do many tasks and will give us enough time for leisure.

Above all else, make sure we are enjoying the things we do. Enjoyment should always be our goal. Work can be play.

Always ask yourself: What can I do to spend more time enjoying what I’m doing?

Our goal should be to arrange our commitments in a way that we’re happy living out the details of our daily life, even while we are working. We should always come to the point that we love what we are doing.
